AVON WALK FOR BREAST CANCER The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is a remarkable, interactive weekend Walk that raises critical dollars to provide access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer. The Walk provides the opportunity for all participants to make a tangible commitment toward eradicating breast cancer while also increasing critical awareness of this deadly disease. For 2 days and 39 miles, everyone who has been touched by breast cancer touches you - in gratitude. Your participation -as a Walker, a Crew Member, a Volunteer or a Donor - will allow medically underserved women and men to be treated giving them access to the care they require. And hard-working research teams will be powered by the funds they need to fuel their quest for the cure.

JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION |
|
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $900 million to diabetes research, including more than $98 million in FY2005. In FY2005, the Foundation funded 500 centers, grants and fellowships in 19 countries Click here to see information or to register for walks in your area |
NATIONAL ALLIANCE FOR AUTISM RESEARCH
The National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) is the first organization in the U.S. dedicated to funding and accelerating biomedical research focusing on autism spectrum disorders. Established in 1994 by parents of children with autism concerned about the limited amount of funding available for autism research, NAAR was created in a spirit of optimism and excitement over the opportunities for accelerating the pace of autism research. This spirit continues to guide the organization today, enabled by recent advances in the neurosciences and other scientific fields. CURE AUTISM NOW--WALK NOW
Cure Autism Now (CAN) is an organization of parents, clinicians and leading scientists committed to accelerating the pace of biomedical research in autism through raising money for research projects, education and outreach. Founded by parents of children with autism in 1995, the organization has grown from a kitchen-table effort to the largest provider of support for autism research and resources in the country. The organization's primary focus is to fund essential research through a variety of programs designed to encourage innovative approaches toward identifying the causes, prevention, treatment and a cure for autism and related disorders. Since its founding, Cure Autism Now has committed over $25 million in research, the establishment and ongoing support of the Autism Genetic Resource Exchange (AGRE), and numerous outreach and awareness activities aimed at families, physicians, governmental officials and the general public. THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY |
|
Since 1988, when the first TNT team was formed, participants have raised over $600 million to help fight leukemia, lympnoma and myeloma. Their efforts have led to key advances in understanding these cancers and have produced new treatments to enhance and prolong lives.
